Shadows II- The Top Shelf opened on December 11, 1987 in the former Hot Legs space on South 2nd Street, operated by Dan Hewett and co-owned with Matthew Gorden, who owned the building. A news account praised its Art Deco decor in soft pinks and grays, its lighting, and its sound system. The bar hosted parties, group meetings, and a free Christmas dinner, and saw a brief business boost in 1989 when nearby Your Place temporarily closed. It shut down suddenly after less than two years, last listed in August 1989.
