Captain's Cabin
Milwaukee
Summary
The Captain's Cabin operated at 400 N. 2nd Street in Milwaukee from the fall of 1963 to December 1966. Operator Wally Whetham opened it after closing his earlier bar, the Black Nite and Bourbon Beat, relocating to a building at 2nd and Florida that had previously housed a Gay 90's saloon. According to local lore, the bar was furnished with fixtures bought cheaply from the old Sailor Ann's tavern. The Captain's Cabin closed during Whetham's 1966 bankruptcy, and the site later became a parking lot.
