Woody's Bar
Milwaukee
Summary
Woody's Bar opened on November 14, 1997, on South 2nd Street, in a building that had previously housed the gay bar B's. Founded by Steve Behl and Ray Arce, it quickly became a hit and established itself as Milwaukee's first gay sports bar, drawing packed crowds for Packers games with big-screen viewing, beer busts, and free shots for every score. The bar changed hands several times, with Alan Kettering taking ownership in 2019, and survived the COVID-19 pandemic shutdowns of 2020.
Remaining open into the 2020s, Woody's retained a loyal core of regulars and its reputation as a laid-back neighborhood gay bar.
