Summary
Oregon House was a Milwaukee gay bar at 235 S. 2nd Street, open from 1976 to 1978. Opened by Sam Mazur, it was the first of many LGBTQ businesses to occupy this Fifth Ward address and helped establish South 2nd Street as a growing gay bar district. The bar featured a lobby, a shag-carpeted interior, and a dance floor known as the Loading Dock. Around mid-1978 it was remodeled and reopened as The Phoenix.
