Nitro

Milwaukee

Summary

Nitro was a large tri-level discotheque on North Water Street, reopened in 1992 after a major renovation of the Sunday-only gay bar previously known as Park Avenue. It billed itself as 'Milwaukee's Premier Nightclub' and catered largely to a young, mainstream crowd rather than operating strictly as a gay bar. It appeared occasionally in the LGBTQ press for benefit events before fading from coverage after 1993, and is believed to have closed around 1994 or 1995. The location later became a series of restaurants.
