Mister Z's opened around December 1975 on South 2nd Street, the third gay bar to occupy the location in less than 18 months, following the Gallery Lounge and Gary's Dance Club. Its sole known advertisement listed an incorrect address, likely sending some patrons searching in vain. The bar was short-lived; by early 1976 the space reopened as Club Circus, which evolved into Circus-Circus and eventually the long-running Club 219.
