La Cage
Milwaukee
Summary
La Cage (also styled La Cage Aux Folles and, for a period, simply "Cage") is a Milwaukee dance club at 801 S. 2nd Street that opened in 1984. It quickly became the city's dominant gay dance venue, aided by a long-tenured DJ, and over the decades expanded into a small entertainment complex with attached spaces such as Dance Dance Dance, Jazz, and the basement restaurant Grubb's Pub.
The club has been frequently remodeled and has changed ownership more than once; founders George Prentice and Corey Grubb sold it in 2005 before later resuming ownership. It has remained among Milwaukee's most popular LGBTQ venues, adding a second-floor show space in 2009 and continuing in operation past 2020.
