Harbor Room

Milwaukee

Summary

The Harbor Room opened in July 2000 at 117 E. Greenfield Avenue, founded by Gregg Fitzpatrick as a levi and leather bar a few blocks south of the main bar district. It occupies a 1907 building that had earlier served as George's Tavern and, briefly in the 1990s, the gay bar The Other Place. The venue quickly became popular, adding a large outdoor patio used for cookouts and shows such as the annual Mr. Harbor Room contest.

The bar was known for innovations including very early opening hours, a year-round covered patio, and daily food and drink specials. Co-owner Eddie Carver died in June 2021 and Fitzpatrick in December 2021; the business continued under new owners afterward.
