Gay Street Station
Milwaukee
Summary
Gay Street Station opened in mid-1986 at 1637 W. Pierce Street, holding its grand opening on August 1, 1986. Decorated in a turn-of-the-century railway-station style and billed as a beer saloon with an emphasis on women patrons, it offered an extensive non-alcoholic drink list and served sandwiches on weekends. It was the first bar operated by owners known as Lois and Sheri, but it proved short-lived.
In late October 1987 they relocated and renamed the business Station 2 - The Eastern Connection, which went on to run for roughly fourteen years.
